INTRODUCTION of the
Raam Mori (Gujarati: રામ મોરી) is a Gujarati language short story writer and columnist from Gujarat, India, primarily known for his short stories depicting the rural life of Saurashtra. Mahotu is his anthology of short stories which received Sahitya Akademi's Yuva Puraskar (2017).
He was born on 2 February 1993 at Mota Surka, a village in Sihor, Gujarat to Tejalben and Bhavsangbhai Mori. His family is a native of Lakhavad, a village near Palitana. He completed his study in fabrication engineering. He started to write short story at the age of 17 and got published in many Gujarati literary magazine such as Shabdasrishti, Navneet Samarpan, Etad, Tathapi and Shabdasar. In 2016, he published his short story collection Mahotu, which was critically acclaimed by some of the Gujarati writers and critic including Raghuveer Chaudhary and Kirit Doodhat. His short stories are centered around women of rural Saurashtra.
He lives in Ahmedabad.
The Short film start with a girl called' Bhavu' running towards home, she was brutally beaten by her husband. The situations becomes intolerable when the women of society told Bhavu that;
"We born as woman, if we can't suffer, then who else can?"
The lines shows a narrow minded women's of the society who is the enemy of her own identity.
After sometime the female protagonist of the film diverts her mind and start to spent some time with Cosmatic vandor. They becomes freind, the Cosmatic vandor is a only refreshment in her life, female protagonist hide her freindship from her husband because of his unpleasantness from lower class people.
This film shows the rural area of Gujrat who has a circumstances like Dowry, Domestics Violence, Narrow minded people who has a dirty thoughts for women.In this type of rural areas not only in gujrat but also Rajsthan, Bihar, Hariyana, Punjab and many state the atmosphere for women is as same as reflected in this short film.
The film also presents the Racism;
" we are a upper class people ee can't seat with the shit people"
favourite short film because it presents the actual condition of women and girls. After watching this film i remember on sentence hold the mirror up.
The story take a 360° turn when one day the Cosmatic vandor come with her daughter and says that she broke her daughter's marriage because he was beaten her! How freedom they have! How can we considered the as a " shit people " they are move advance then " so called" upper class people.
The Short film also contains a Tital track, generally short film not contain title track but it is. Here i am sharing its link. The words of song is heart touching just like film.
This short film is also contains subtitles in english so its easy to understand for people who don't know Gujarati language.
